The Obi–Kwankwaso (OK) Movement in Enugu State has raised the alarm over alleged attempts by some individuals to destabilise the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), warning members and supporters against what it described as unauthorised leadership claims and misinformation.
The movement’s Chief Press Secretary, Moses Ani, made the allegation in a statement issued on Friday, accusing unnamed individuals of attempting to create a non-existent faction within the party through impersonation and conflicting claims of leadership.
Ani said the alleged actions could create confusion within the party and distract members from preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The movement urged those involved to allow the party’s internal mechanisms and legal processes to take their course, stressing the need for political actors to respect constitutional democracy and the rule of law.
The group also claimed that a suit allegedly filed by the Johnpaul group against the party was struck out in July, arguing that the decision left no legal basis for parallel structures or alternative leadership claims.
It further alleged that some members of the group had continued to present themselves as party leaders despite the court’s decision.
The OK Movement called on NDC members and supporters to remain calm, united and vigilant, urging them to verify political information through recognised party leadership and official communication channels.
It also cautioned political actors against involving young Nigerians in political conflicts, saying the interest of the country should take precedence over individual ambitions.
The movement reaffirmed its commitment to democratic values, accountability and good governance, maintaining that the ‘New Nigeria’ project is greater than the ambitions of any individual as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.
