Donald Trump has publicly backed Gianni Infantino, insisting that removing him from his position as FIFA president would be a major error.
Trump described the potential loss of Infantino as the “bigliest mistake”, making his stance on the FIFA chief very clear.
The two have maintained a close public relationship, particularly during preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is being hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Infantino has led FIFA since 2016 and has overseen several major changes during his time in charge, including the expansion of the World Cup from 32 to 48 teams.
