City Transit Inn, the hospitality arm of ABC Transport Plc, is set to expand its operations to Aba, Abia State, following approval by the Abia State Government for the development of a new hotel facility in the commercial city.
The proposed Aba hotel is part of the company’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence in major commercial centres across Nigeria while providing travellers, business visitors and other customers with affordable, safe and quality accommodation.
The facility is expected to provide air-conditioned rooms with private showers, uninterrupted power supply, complimentary internet access and a comfortable environment for guests.
According to the company, the decision to establish the facility in Aba is informed by the city’s growing commercial activities and improving infrastructure, including road connectivity and power supply.
As one of the South-East’s major commercial hubs, Aba is expected to provide City Transit Inn with access to a growing population of business travellers and visitors, while also complementing ABC Transport’s existing transportation and logistics operations in the region.
The Aba project forms part of a wider hospitality expansion plan that also identifies Port Harcourt and Lagos as potential locations for future City Transit Inn facilities.
City Transit Inn currently operates a 113-room budget-friendly hotel in Abuja, which has been owned and operated by ABC Transport since 2001. The company says its more than two decades of experience in the hospitality sector has provided the foundation for the planned expansion into other major Nigerian cities.
The expansion is also in line with ABC Transport Plc’s diversification strategy aimed at strengthening its non-passenger businesses and developing additional revenue streams beyond conventional passenger transportation.
The company has in recent years expanded its haulage and cargo logistics operations, alongside its driver training and hospitality businesses, as it seeks to build a more diversified and resilient business portfolio.
The planned Aba facility is therefore expected to deepen ABC Transport’s presence in the hospitality sector while reinforcing its broader participation in Nigeria’s transportation, logistics and mobility ecosystem.
ABC Transport Plc operates across Passenger Transportation, Haulage, Cargo Logistics, Hospitality and Driver Training and is quoted on the Nigerian stock market under the ticker ABCTRANS.
