The Udi Local Government Area Traditional Rulers Council in Enugu State has commended the Senator representing Enugu West Senatorial District, Senator Osita Ngwu, for his efforts toward the completion of the Ninth Mile Ugwu Onyeama Enugu Double Carriageway.
In a letter dated August 6, 2026, jointly signed by the Chairman of the Council, HRM Justice F. Ken Ezeike (Rtd.), the Secretary, HRH Igwe Uche A. Alugwu, and 33 other traditional rulers and members, the monarchs expressed appreciation for the Senator’s role in advancing the completion of the critical road project.
The Council said the matter was deliberated upon during its monthly meeting held on July 2, 2026, at the Udi Local Government Headquarters, where members unanimously resolved to formally recognise the Senator’s efforts.
According to the traditional rulers, the completion of the two lanes has significantly improved traffic flow and made movement along the once-dangerous hill stretch safer and easier for motorists and other road users.
They recalled that the road had previously recorded avoidable accidents and loss of lives, describing its completion as a major development for residents of Udi and other communities within the Enugu West Senatorial District.
The monarchs also commended Senator Ngwu for what they described as his “gallant and constructive presentations” on the floor of the Senate, saying his legislative performance had justified the confidence placed in him by the people of the district.
The Council further expressed appreciation for the Senator’s recognition and respect for traditional institutions, particularly his relationship with the royal fathers of Udi Local Government Area.
It said his interventions on the Ninth Mile–Ugwu Onyeama–Enugu road, alongside his legislative engagements with relevant authorities, demonstrated a commitment to issues affecting the safety, welfare and economic activities of his constituents.
The traditional rulers said they would continue to communicate the Senator’s achievements and development efforts to their respective communities.
The Council also stated that its commendation was a collective expression of appreciation, with the letter endorsed by its Chairman, Secretary and 33 other traditional rulers and members.
The development comes as the completion and improvement of the strategic Ninth Mile Ugwu Onyeama Enugu corridor is expected to enhance road safety, ease traffic movement and support economic activities across communities along the route.
