ABAGANA — Senator Victor Umeh, representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, has extended his agricultural empowerment programme to Njikoka Local Government Area, distributing 200 bags of 50kg fertiliser to farmers across the area.
The exercise, held on Wednesday at Chime Hall, Abagana, brought together farmers, community leaders and members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Umeh said the initiative was aimed at improving agricultural productivity, supporting farmers and strengthening food production amid rising food prices.
He urged beneficiaries and community stakeholders to ensure the fertiliser is distributed fairly across the wards and used strictly for agricultural purposes.

The Senator also highlighted other interventions under his representation, including the Anambra Central Scholarship Programme, which he said currently supports 332 students from 58 communities, with 31 beneficiaries from Njikoka.
According to Umeh, his interventions also cover infrastructure development, skills acquisition, agricultural training and food support programmes.
The event equally featured political mobilisation, with the Senator expressing appreciation to supporters of Peter Obi and other NDC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The agricultural empowerment programme has previously reached farmers in Awka North, Awka South, Dunukofia and Anaocha, while Idemili North and Idemili South are expected to benefit in subsequent phases.
The initiative, according to the organisers, is part of efforts to strengthen farming communities and contribute to food security across Anambra Central.
