The Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State, Hon. Ibeh Franklin Kennedy Chukwuemeka, has defended the outcome of the party’s recent primaries, describing the exercise as transparent, peaceful and credible.
Ibeh, who spoke in Owerri, said the primaries conducted across various elective positions, from the State House of Assembly to the Senate, were subjected to proper scrutiny and produced what he described as the party’s best candidates.
He criticised those challenging the outcome of the exercise, accusing them of being unwilling to accept defeat and urging them to allow the party to move forward.
His comments come amid challenges to the senatorial primaries in Orlu Zone (Imo West) and Okigwe Zone (Imo North), where former Governor Rochas Okorocha and Senator Ifeanyi Ararume have reportedly questioned the outcomes that produced Governor Hope Uzodimma and Senator Patrick Ndubueze as the party’s candidates respectively.
The APC youth leader said the exercise was peaceful and well accepted, arguing that attempts to discredit it could distract the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
He questioned the basis for challenging what he described as one of the most successful primary elections conducted by a political party in the state.
“How can any sensible person question Imo APC Primaries that have been adjudged as one of the best in Political Primaries in Nigeria?” Ibeh asked.
He said the successful candidates were already preparing for campaigns in line with the timetable and regulations of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Ibeh appealed to APC members across Imo State to remain united, focused and committed to the party’s activities ahead of the campaigns and the 2027 general elections.
He also urged what he described as mischief makers to refrain from actions capable of creating divisions within the party.
The youth leader expressed confidence in the APC’s chances at the forthcoming elections, declaring that internal disagreements would not prevent the party from pursuing its electoral ambitions.
“No amount of distractions by mischief makers will stop APC’s victory in the coming elections,” he declared.
