The Obedient Movement in Ebonyi State has reportedly collapsed its support structure into the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), endorsing the party’s governorship candidate, Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, ahead of the 2027 election.

The endorsement was announced by the Director-General of the Anyi Ga Emeya Youth Movement, a support group backing Odii, Bob Uchenna Agbeze.

Agbeze said the group arrived at its decision after assessing the various governorship candidates in the state, including their antecedents, professional records, networks and contributions to society.

He said the group settled for Odii because of what it described as his track record and capacity to provide an alternative direction for the state.

“We have taken notes of all the candidates, their antecedents, networks and business records, and we are saying today that we are endorsing Chief Ifeanyi Odii,” Agbeze said.

The PDP support group also criticised the performance of the incumbent administration, alleging that it had failed to adequately address some of the challenges confronting residents.

Agbeze particularly questioned appeals by the administration for voters to forgive its shortcomings ahead of the election, arguing that meaningful policy changes could be initiated within a short period.

According to him, the people of Ebonyi State are more interested in sustainable development than individual financial assistance.

“The people of Ebonyi State don’t want you to give them money individually; they want you to give them a trajectory, developmental achievement. Even if you don’t achieve all, let them see you moving,” he said.

He maintained that good governance should be measured by visible progress and clear development direction rather than promises or temporary interventions.

Agbeze expressed confidence that Odii, if elected governor, would address what he described as the state’s developmental challenges and provide a new direction for Ebonyi.

The endorsement adds to the growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 governorship election, as political parties and support groups intensify efforts to consolidate their bases across Ebonyi State.
