An improvised explosive device, IED, has reportedly detonated under a military vehicle during a routine patrol in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State.
Security sources disclosed the incident to security expert Zagazola Makama on Saturday.
According to the sources, the explosion occurred at about 6:50 a.m. on Friday along the Ihite Ukwa Health Centre axis, when troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade reportedly encountered the explosive device during a patrol.
The blast reportedly damaged the front-right fender of a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected, MRAP, vehicle.
There was no immediate official statement on the incident or confirmation of casualties at the time of filing this report.
Security agencies are expected to assess the area and investigate the circumstances surrounding the explosion.
