The Edo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the ozone layer and reducing emissions that contribute to global warming.
The Commissioner for Environment and Sustainability, Nosa Adams, stated this in Benin City during activities marking International Ozone Day.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Edith Ebowonyi, the Commissioner said the government would promote sustainable cooling practices while working with stakeholders through training and capacity development.
The Edo State Coordinator of the National Association of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Practitioners (NARAP), Isaac Oseiga, said the event was organised to equip practitioners with knowledge and skills to tackle climate change.
The programme featured a technical session on preventing ozone depletion and the unveiling of Ozone Legacy in Nigeria, a book marking the 10th anniversary of the Kigali Amendment, written by former NARAP National President, Ozaveshe Balogun.
