Former President Goodluck Jonathan has called for the harmonisation of structures and salary scales across Nigeria’s federal and state civil services.

Jonathan made the call in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, during the foundation-laying ceremony for the Bayelsa State Association of Retired Permanent Secretaries’ Secretariat Complex.

He recalled that, as Bayelsa governor, he created Grade Level 17 for directors, who previously retired at Level 16, to align their status with federal counterparts.

The proposed secretariat complex is estimated to cost ₦500 million and is expected to be completed within two years.

Jonathan also formally laid the foundation stone for the project.
