Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has ordered the immediate removal of the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Stanley Lebechi Mbam, from office.
The development was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor, and made available to journalists in Abakaliki on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
The statement did not disclose the circumstances or reasons behind the commissioner’s removal.
Governor Nwifuru also directed Mbam to immediately hand over all government property in his possession, including his official vehicle, to the Secretary to the State Government.
He was further directed to transfer the responsibilities of his office to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works.
The Governor, according to the statement, assured residents of Ebonyi State that his administration remains focused on effective governance and the improvement of public infrastructure across the state.
The statement read in part:
“The Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, FNIOB, FCAI, GGCEHF, has directed the immediate removal from office of the Honourable Commissioner for Works, Engr. Stanley Lebechi Mbam.”
The Governor’s directive takes immediate effect.
