The appointment was announced on Friday, September 18, 2026, and conveyed in an official letter signed by the Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Governor Hope Uzodimma.

According to the letter, the appointment was made in recognition of Igwesi’s “commitment, capacity, and alignment with the vision and objectives” of the organisation.

Reports said the appointment was approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following Igwesi’s nomination by Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah. The new role is expected to involve coordinating the organisation’s activities and grassroots mobilisation across the state.

The appointment letter stated that Igwesi would be responsible for coordinating activities within Enugu State, mobilising stakeholders, promoting the organisation’s objectives and ensuring the implementation of its programmes at the grassroots.
