Enugu State owned airline, Enugu Air, is set to expand into regional aviation with the launch of direct commercial flights between Enugu and Douala, Cameroon, beginning Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
The new route will mark the airline’s first international service and is expected to strengthen air connectivity between southeastern Nigeria and Cameroon, particularly for business travellers, traders, families and other passengers travelling between the two countries.
According to a statement by Enugu Air’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Ugonna Agubuokwu, the service will operate twice weekly on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Flights from Enugu are scheduled to depart at 12:45 p.m. and arrive in Douala at 1:45 p.m., while return flights will leave Douala at 2:30 p.m. and arrive in Enugu at 3:30 p.m.
The airline said the schedule has been designed to enable passengers travelling from Lagos and Abuja to connect to Douala through Enugu.
Agubuokwu said the new route was designed to bring businesses, families and opportunities closer together while making regional air travel more accessible and convenient.
He described the development as more than the introduction of a new route, saying it would strengthen connections between Nigeria and Cameroon and support easier movement across the region.
The Enugu-Douala service is expected to provide an alternative to existing connecting travel options between the two cities and further position Enugu as a regional aviation hub.
The route is also expected to support commercial links between southeastern Nigeria and Cameroon, where there are longstanding business and social connections.
Enugu Air’s international expansion comes after the airline commenced domestic operations from its Enugu base in 2025. The carrier subsequently obtained its own Air Operator Certificate from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority in March 2026.
Aviation industry reports indicate that the new service is scheduled to operate with an Embraer E170 aircraft, subject to the airline’s operational schedule.
With the introduction of the Enugu-Douala route, Enugu Air is set to move beyond its domestic network and begin offering direct regional connectivity between Nigeria and Central Africa.
