China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) has deployed heavy-duty equipment and personnel to support rescue operations following the collapse of a building on Ogbalu Street, Independence Layout, Enugu State.
The Chinese infrastructure company mobilised excavators, loaders and other equipment to the scene to assist emergency responders in clearing debris, locating trapped victims and carrying out safety checks around the collapsed structure.
Speaking with journalists after the rescue operation, CCCC Project Manager, Jin Haibing, said four people had so far been rescued from the building.
Haibing said the company responded promptly after receiving information about the incident, adding that its intervention was aimed at complementing the ongoing emergency response and making additional resources available to those affected.
He said CCCC, which has maintained a presence in Nigeria’s infrastructure sector, remained committed to supporting communities where it operates and contributing to the safety and wellbeing of residents.
According to him, the company’s intervention reflects its commitment to cooperation with local communities and stakeholders, as well as the broader relationship between Nigeria and China.
CCCC said its engagement with host communities extends beyond infrastructure projects, stressing that practical interventions and cooperation with local stakeholders are important aspects of its operations.
The company further pledged to strengthen its relationship with communities and stakeholders across Nigeria through closer collaboration and interventions where its resources and expertise can contribute to public safety and local development.
It also reaffirmed its readiness to deploy its technical expertise, equipment and experience in support of emergency response efforts and the development of Nigerian cities and infrastructure.
Authorities and emergency responders are expected to continue efforts at the site while investigations and safety assessments surrounding the building collapse proceed.
