Nollywood actress Rachael Okonkwo, popularly known as Nkoli Nwa Nsukka, has been appointed Senior Special Assistant to Enugu State Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah on Film and Creative Industry Development.
The appointment was contained in a public announcement issued on Monday, September 21, 2026, and signed by the Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia. The appointment took effect immediately.
Okonkwo is among a new group of appointees approved by Governor Mbah to serve across various government portfolios. Reports on the official announcement list the appointees across Special Adviser, Senior Special Assistant and Special Assistant positions.
Her new portfolio places her within the Enugu State Government’s responsibilities for the development of the film and creative industry, an area closely connected to her career in Nollywood.
Okonkwo, whose full name is Nnenna Rachael Okonkwo, is known for her work in the Nigerian film industry, particularly her association with the popular Nkoli Nwa Nsukka movie series. She hails from Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Reacting to the appointment, well-wishers and colleagues in the entertainment industry have congratulated the actress, describing the new responsibility as an opportunity for her to contribute her experience to the creative sector.
The appointment comes alongside that of veteran actress Eucharia Anunobi, who was named Special Assistant on Women Mobilisation for the Enugu-North Zone.
