Former Speaker of the House of Representatives and ex-Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, has declared that President Bola Tinubu has the best plans for Nigeria of any president he has encountered in nearly four decades of active political involvement.
Masari made the statement while addressing a group of women at a recent public function reportedly held in Kaduna, as political activities continue to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The former governor dismissed claims that the Tinubu administration had achieved little since taking office, arguing that similar criticisms had been levelled against previous administrations, including those led by former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan.
According to Masari, assessments of government performance should not be driven solely by immediate political sentiments, noting that successive administrations had faced criticism from sections of the public.
He also took aim at the growing use of ethnic and religious sentiments in political discourse, questioning attempts to portray certain religions as belonging exclusively to particular ethnic groups.
Masari called on women preachers to use their platforms and influence to discourage divisive rhetoric, particularly as politicians and political parties intensify their activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
Masari served as governor of Katsina State between 2015 and 2023. In August, he was appointed Deputy Director-General for Parliamentary Mobilisation of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.
