Sharon Ademedun, elder sister of Nigerian music star Davido, has opened up about how she established clear expectations for her marriage from the early stages of her relationship with her husband, Yomi Ademedun.
Sharon, who has been married since 2013, made the revelation in a soon to be released episode of The Morayo Show, where she reflected on how more than a decade of marriage has shaped her.
Speaking about her approach to relationships, Sharon described herself as someone who places a strong emphasis on communication and honesty.
She explained that when she met her husband, she made it clear that she did not intend to have what she described as a “traditional kind of marriage.”
According to her, during the early weeks of their relationship, she once prepared a meal for her then boyfriend and asked whether he enjoyed it.
After he confirmed that he did, Sharon said she immediately clarified that although she knew how to cook, she did not particularly enjoy cooking and wanted him to understand that from the beginning.
She said her decision to communicate her expectations early was an expression of honesty and a way of ensuring that both partners understood each other before marriage.
Sharon’s comments have sparked conversations around communication, transparency and setting realistic expectations during courtship, particularly as couples prepare for long term relationships.
