Jürgen Klopp has called for patience with his players following criticism and boos from supporters, insisting that his team is not as bad as some believe while urging fans to give new arrivals time to develop.
Klopp acknowledged that his side has room for improvement but rejected the idea that the team should be written off, stressing that there is no reason for negativity or despair.
“There’s no reason for me to fall into depression and say, ‘We’re so bad.’ We’re not. But we’re not that good either.”
The manager also defended his players from definitive judgments, particularly those who are still adapting to the team. Klopp said new players should be allowed the time and space to develop rather than being immediately labelled according to their perceived strengths or weaknesses.
“I don’t want the players to be judged definitively: ‘He can do this, or he can’t do that.’”
Klopp took responsibility for the team’s performances and invited critics to direct their frustrations toward him rather than the players.
“If you want to criticize someone, criticize me. Let the new players develop.”
He also backed the established members of the squad, describing them as top players at their respective clubs and reaffirming his support for them.
Klopp admitted he was surprised to hear some supporters boo the team, but insisted that there is no need to completely dismantle the project.
“We don’t need to completely tear everything apart.”
Looking ahead, Klopp remained optimistic about what lies ahead, saying the team’s future will depend on how they respond to the current challenges.
“The future is as bright as we make it. We’ll take it on with everything we have. We’ll continue on this path.”
