The General Overseer of Glorious Manifestation Ministries, Prophetess Sommy, has expressed disappointment over what she described as inadequate financial contributions from some members of her church towards her birthday celebration.
Prophetess Sommy, who is based in Owerri, Imo State, reportedly made the remarks during a church service while addressing members about preparations for the celebration.
The cleric questioned why some members could afford to spend money celebrating friends and romantic partners but were reportedly reluctant to contribute ₦10,000 towards her birthday celebration.
She particularly challenged members whom she said spend money on birthday gifts, portraits and other forms of celebration for people who may not have the same spiritual significance in their lives.
According to her, members should consider their contributions to the birthday celebration as an expression of appreciation for the spiritual investment she makes in their lives.
Prophetess Sommy further encouraged members to consider the spiritual grace they desire in her life and regard their contributions as an opportunity to honour that grace.
“Any grace that is in my life that you desire, and you are using it to make this birthday gift donation, as we have started, that grace will be multiplied in your life,” she said.
The cleric also expressed concern that only a small number of members had reportedly contributed towards the celebration despite the large number of people in the church’s various groups.
The remarks have generated reactions online, with social media users sharing different views on whether church members should be expected to make financial contributions towards a pastor’s birthday celebration.
