Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, has charged the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream I Corps Members deployed to the state to promote national unity, peaceful coexistence and integration.

Governor Eno gave the charge during the swearing-in ceremony at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikot Itie Udung, Nsit Atai Local Government Area.

Represented by the Director, Ministry of Youth Development, Mr Emmanuel Akabio, the Governor described the NYSC scheme as an important platform for fostering national unity and development.

He urged the Corps Members to use their knowledge, energy and creativity to contribute to nation-building, while building relationships across ethnic, religious and regional boundaries.

Governor Eno also assured them of the state government’s commitment to their safety and welfare, noting that measures were being taken to improve the orientation camp and make it more conducive.

He urged the Corps Members to remain disciplined, obey camp rules and demonstrate integrity, diligence and mutual respect throughout their service year.

Meanwhile, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Rosemary Akuagbaogu, disclosed that 1,978 prospective Corps Members, comprising 910 males and 1,068 females, had so far registered for the orientation course in Akwa Ibom.

She appealed for urgent intervention to improve accommodation and other facilities at the camp, particularly due to the rainy season and the number of Corps Members being accommodated.
