Several members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Benue State have reportedly sustained serious injuries after a bus conveying them to a party rally in Lafia, Nasarawa State, was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle.
The accident occurred on Saturday morning in Lafia, just a few kilometres from the rally venue. The number of delegates injured in the crash had yet to be confirmed as of the time of filing this report.
The injured victims were reportedly evacuated to hospitals in Lafia for medical treatment.
Dan-Morgan Ihomun, the State Publicity Secretary of the Austin Agada-led faction of the APC in Benue, confirmed the incident, stating that no life was lost.
Ihomun said, “The accident happened in Lafia and it involved two vehicles. But there was no loss of life. Those who sustained injuries have been rushed to the hospital.”
The latest incident has renewed concerns over road safety for party members travelling from Benue to Nasarawa State for APC activities, following a similar accident earlier in the year.
On March 25, 2026, three APC delegates from Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State died, while about 10 others sustained injuries when a bus conveying them from Makurdi to Lafia crashed on their way to attend the party’s North-Central Zonal Congress.
The Saturday accident occurred months after that fatal crash, although details regarding the circumstances of the latest collision and the condition of the injured delegates were not immediately available.
