The Permanent Secretary of the Anambra State Ministry of Health and Supervisory Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Value Reformation, Pharm. (Dr) Obiageli Uchebo, has charged information officers in the state to demonstrate greater diligence, accountability and professionalism in reporting government activities and programmes.
Uchebo gave the charge on October 12 during a meeting convened to remind the officers of their responsibilities and the need to improve the timely dissemination of information on government activities across their respective areas of assignment.
She emphasised that public servants who receive salaries must demonstrate commitment to duty through measurable performance, prompt reporting and effective discharge of their official responsibilities.
According to her, timely and accurate information dissemination is essential to keeping residents informed about government policies, programmes and interventions, enabling them to understand and access available public services.
The Permanent Secretary urged the officers to remain proactive and dedicated to their assignments, warning that failure to perform their duties diligently could attract disciplinary measures.
She also advised them to respect constituted authority, obey lawful directives and maintain cooperation with their superiors to ensure effective service delivery.
Uchebo further reminded the officers that leadership is a continuous process, noting that some of them could occupy leadership positions in the future. She therefore encouraged them to demonstrate the discipline, commitment and professionalism they would expect from others.
In their response, participants acknowledged the advice and pledged to improve their performance and carry out their responsibilities more effectively in support of the state government’s development agenda.
The Acting Director of the Ministry of Information and Value Reformation, Mr Emmanuel Emmanuel, was present at the meeting.
