Former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Betta Edu, has pledged to sustain grassroots mobilisation across Nigeria after President Bola Tinubu promised to support proposed bills aimed at increasing women’s representation in elective and appointive positions.

Edu, the Director of Women Mobilisation of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, gave the assurance after Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to the proposed legislation.

The President spoke during the inauguration of the Presidential Campaign Council at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he acknowledged the role of women in political mobilisation and democratic development.

“You women are the greatest mobilisers and foot soldiers of our democracy,” Tinubu said.

He urged women leaders to intensify advocacy for the six bills, expressing confidence that their efforts would produce results.
