The Commissioner of Police in Abia State, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, psc(+), mnips, JP, has charged strategic officers of the command to strengthen intelligence led policing, improve operational efficiency and adopt proactive measures to tackle security challenges across the state.
The Commissioner gave the charge on October 15, 2026, during a strategic conference with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Tactical Team Commanders and Heads of Departments.
At the meeting, CP Afolabi emphasised the importance of effective supervision, discipline and professionalism in the discharge of police duties. He directed officers to sustain crime prevention strategies, intelligence led raids and regular patrols while ensuring proper monitoring and accountability among personnel.
The police chief also stressed the need to improve police community relations through regular public engagement, accessible official contact numbers and the provision of suggestion boxes at police formations to encourage feedback from residents.
He further urged officers to collaborate with approved community security outfits within their respective areas of responsibility to strengthen security operations and address emerging threats.
CP Afolabi charged the officers to remain proactive, lead by example and ensure effective security coverage across their various jurisdictions.
The conference forms part of the command’s efforts to enhance operational effectiveness, promote public trust and strengthen security across Abia State.
