A renewed call for alumni associations across Nigeria to invest in their former schools has been made following the remarkable infrastructural projects executed by the College of Immaculate Conception (CIC) Alumni Association in Enugu State.

The call followed a visit to the college on Friday, October 16, by a guest who commended the association for its commitment to educational development and giving back to society.

During the visit, the guest inspected several projects facilitated by the alumni association under the leadership of its President, Dr Valentine Ozoigbo. The projects include a multipurpose hall, a dormitory complex, a sports complex, and an ongoing five storey staff quarters building.

Impressed by the association’s achievements, the visitor described its efforts as a worthy example of how collective commitment and generosity can transform educational institutions. The visitor also pledged support for the college’s proposed Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) project.

The guest urged alumni of other institutions across Nigeria to emulate the initiative, stressing that meaningful contributions do not necessarily require enormous wealth. According to the visitor, consistent contributions and collective efforts can help former students improve school infrastructure, create better learning environments, and provide greater opportunities for future generations.

The visitor further noted that increased alumni involvement in educational development could ease the burden on government while strengthening the quality of facilities available in schools.

Addressing the students, the guest encouraged them to take their studies seriously, remain disciplined, and pursue their ambitions with determination. The students were also advised to respect their teachers, maintain positive relationships with them, and continue to appreciate their guidance even after graduation.

The visitor equally commended the teachers for their dedication, particularly their efforts in maintaining the school’s cleanliness and upholding discipline among the students.

The visit highlighted the importance of alumni participation in educational development and demonstrated how former students can contribute to building better schools for generations to come.
