The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) says its forces have redirected 138 commercial vessels as part of efforts to enforce a naval blockade against Iranian ports.
In a statement issued on October 17, CENTCOM reported that the USS Rafael Peralta (DDG 115), a US Navy guided-missile destroyer, was transiting regional waters in support of the blockade.
According to the command, the redirection of commercial vessels is intended to ensure strict compliance with the restrictions imposed on maritime traffic linked to Iranian ports.
The deployment of the USS Rafael Peralta highlights the US Navy’s role in supporting the ongoing enforcement operation across the region’s strategic waterways.
CENTCOM has not provided further details in the statement about the identities of the redirected vessels or the specific locations where the interceptions and redirections occurred.
