The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Samson Adamu as its General Secretary on a permanent basis following a comprehensive recruitment process involving interviews with several candidates.
Adamu had been serving in an acting capacity since March 2026, taking responsibility for the organisation’s administrative operations during the interim period.
Before his appointment, he held several key positions within CAF, including Director of Competitions and Director of Tournaments and Events, where he was involved in organising and managing major African football competitions.
He joined the continental football governing body in 2018 and has since gained experience in competition management and football administration.
Adamu is also a graduate of the FIFA Master programme in International Management, Law and Humanities of Sport, an internationally recognised course focused on the business and administration of sports.
His permanent appointment places him at the centre of CAF’s administrative leadership, overseeing the organisation’s day-to-day operations and supporting its football development activities across the continent.
