Turkish football club Galatasaray secured an important 2–0 victory over German side VfB Stuttgart in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, November 3, following an impressive performance by Aleksey Batrakov, who scored twice in the opening 15 minutes of the match.
The match, played at the Türk Telekom Arena in Istanbul, saw Galatasaray take an early advantage that proved decisive against their German opponents.
Galatasaray opened the scoring in the 12th minute when Batrakov converted an opportunity created through Roland Sallai’s cross. Stuttgart goalkeeper Fabian Bredlow managed to get a touch on the ball, but it struck the crossbar before crossing the goal line.
Three minutes later, Galatasaray doubled their lead. Batrakov received a forward pass from Davinson Sánchez, broke through Stuttgart’s defence and fired the ball between the goalkeeper’s legs to make it 2–0.
Stuttgart attempted to reduce the deficit and created several opportunities during the match. Jamie Leweling came close to scoring when his effort struck both posts before returning into play.
However, Galatasaray’s goalkeeper, Uğurcan Çakır, delivered an impressive performance, making several important saves to preserve his team’s advantage.
Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen also contributed to Galatasaray’s attacking efforts, putting pressure on Stuttgart’s defence and creating opportunities to extend the lead.
Despite Stuttgart’s attempts to recover, Galatasaray maintained their defensive organisation and prevented the visitors from scoring.
The victory earned Galatasaray three important points in the Champions League league phase and strengthened their position in the competition.
Batrakov’s early goals proved decisive, while the team’s defensive performance demonstrated its ability to withstand pressure from a determined Stuttgart side.
