Hon. Kanmi Ajibola, a member of the Osun State House of Assembly, in a bold and unprecedented move, has ignited a fiery debate by advocating for the imposition of the death penalty on corrupt government officials.

Ajibola, representing Oriade State Constituency, minced no words as he asserted that allowing thieves of the nation’s wealth to live constitutes the greatest injustice to both God’s law and humanity.

He emphasized that the scourge of corruption can only be effectively curbed through the elimination of all culprits.

In a comprehensive five-page letter addressed to key stakeholders including the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, Ajibola laid out his compelling argument for capital punishment as the only sincere solution to Nigeria’s pervasive corruption epidemic.

Titled “You can be the Moses and Musa of the present Nigerian generation,” the letter underscored the urgent need to enact stringent measures to combat corruption, citing examples from countries such as China, Indonesia, and Thailand where capital punishment has been instrumental in fostering economic stability and development.

Drawing attention to staggering statistics of embezzled funds amounting to billions of dollars, Ajibola highlighted the detrimental impact of corruption on Nigeria’s socio-economic fabric, contributing to widespread social vices including kidnapping, unemployment, and insecurity.

In a plea to the National Assembly, Ajibola urged swift action in introducing legislation to incorporate capital punishment into Nigeria’s anti-corruption laws within a 30-day timeframe.

He emphasized that such measures are imperative to safeguard the nation’s future and prevent its descent into an untimely demise.
