Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, is facing a tense atmosphere following the disappearance of Francisca Chioma, a student from the Department of Science Education, who vanished while en route to a burial ceremony outside Awka, Anambra State.

Despite efforts to locate her, Chioma’s whereabouts remain unknown, sparking concerns among her peers, with some fearing she may have been abducted.

While details surrounding her disappearance remain unclear, speculation arises as her friends grapple with uncertainty. One schoolmate, speaking anonymously, shared, “There are indications she might have been kidnapped along Omasiunu area in Anambra State.”

Emma Ojukwu, Special Assistant on Public Relations Matters and Special Duty to the Vice-Chancellor, directs inquiries to the institution’s security department, confirming that security agencies, including the DSS, are involved in the investigation.

Ken Chukwurah, the chief security officer, acknowledged the situation, stating, “We received information that one of our students was on her way to attend a funeral ceremony… and since then, she has not been found.”

He added that relevant authorities have been notified, and efforts are underway to locate Chioma.

Despite these efforts, attempts to reach the Anambra State police spokesperson prove futile, leaving many anxiously awaiting updates on the situation.
