The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in a swift but decisive move, has suspended several ward leaders from Ganduje Ward in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, following their controversial attempt to suspend Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the party’s National Chairman.
As earlier reported by MUK TV, the action was hinged on accusations of bribery leveled against Ganduje by the Kano State Government.
The initial suspension was quickly overturned by the APC’s local government leadership.
Inusa Suleiman Dawanau, the APC chairman for Dawakin Tofa LGA, in a press briefing on Monday said that the involved leaders were engaged in anti-party activities, including unauthorized meetings with rival political, Leadership reported.
To reinforce party discipline, the State Working Committee (SWC) has not only suspended the ward leaders for six months but also established a special panel to investigate the allegations thoroughly.
Abdullahi Abbas, the Kano State APC chairman, affirmed that the state party fully endorses the local government’s swift actions and is actively pursuing further inquiries into the accused members’ conduct.
