Former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, his daughter, and two others have been granted bail by a Federal High Court in Abuja in the sum of ₦100 million each, with two sureties.

The bail conditions stipulate that the sureties must possess landed properties in Abuja and be responsible citizens, further requiring them to depose to an affidavit of means.

The court further prohibited the defendants from traveling abroad without its permission.

Justice Oriji ordered that the defendants be remanded in prison custody should they fail to meet their bail conditions.

The case stems from allegations of a ₦2.7 billion fraud, with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) having taken Sirika into custody in April for questioning.

The EFCC subsequently filed a six-count charge against Sirika, his daughter, and two others, accusing them of various offenses, including conferring undue advantage on certain entities and abusing office by awarding consultancy contracts.

Among the allegations, the EFCC claims that Sirika awarded a ₦1.3 billion consultancy contract for the Nigerian Air start-up to Tianero Nigeria Limited, contrary to the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000.

Also, Sirika allegedly used his position to influence the award of a contract for the Apron Extension at Katsina Airport to Al Buraq Global Investment Limited, where his daughter and son-in-law are associated.
