The Federal Government has dispatched 20 trucks of rice to each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, as part of measures to alleviate the economic hardship facing Nigerians.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, announced this on Monday after the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.
Idris stated, “Each state has received truckloads of rice, each containing 1,200 bags of 25kg rice for onward distribution to the most vulnerable persons and families.”
He noted that this initiative is the federal government’s first step in providing support to all sub-nationals.
State governments are expected to distribute the rice to help mitigate the current economic difficulties in the country.
