Vice President Kashim Shettima has praised President Bola Tinubu’s modest lifestyle, describing him as a man who shuns ostentation for simplicity, all for the good of Nigeria, despite his considerable wealth.

Shettima stated this why calling on Nigerians to rally Tinubu as he tackles the country’s socio-political, economic, and security challenges.

Speaking at the launch of Professor Modupe Adelabu’s book, ‘Navigating the Politics of Universal Education Policies in Nigeria’, in Abuja on Thursday, Shettima highlighted the modest lifestyle and sincerity of the president, Vanguard reported.

“In President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we have a leader that we can invest our trust in. I’m not playing politics, I’m speaking from the heart. I have seen the soul of Bola Tinubu, and he has a good soul,” Shettima said, emphasizing that Tinubu’s intentions for the nation are genuine.

Shettima, who recounted his first visit to Tinubu’s home, expressed surprise at the simplicity of the house and the president’s modest way of life.

“The first time I went to his house at Bourdillon, I was looking forward to seeing a mansion comparable to Buckingham Palace, with gardens, and swimming pools, but there was nothing special about that house. My house in Maiduguri is better than the house in Bourdillon,” he said.

“Since I have known him, he has been using only one wristwatch, and in fact, I dress better than him. He doesn’t even care. He has overcome all those odds to dress well,” he also revealed

Shettima urged Nigerians to support Tinubu’s leadership, particularly as the government implements tough but necessary measures to address the nation’s challenges.

He acknowledged the difficulties faced by the economy but expressed optimism about the future.

“The President had the courage, the political courage, and the willpower to take far-reaching decisions, and it always comes at a price. When a woman is about to give birth, it’s a very painful process but after the child has come forth, it’s a cause for celebration,” he said, predicting that Tinubu’s legacy will be favorably judged by history.

Addressing the economic situation, Shettima pointed out positive developments, including an increase in oil exports and the stabilization of the Naira.

He also acknowledged the impact of global and local factors on food security, but assured that security challenges in key agricultural regions would be resolved.

“Be rest assured that in the coming months, Nigerians will see a sea of change in their fortunes. I want to ask all of us to rally around this poor man,” Shettima ended his speech.
