The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Waheed Ayilara, has passed away following surgery at a Lagos hospital.
Ayilara underwent prostate cancer surgery at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in Ikeja on Wednesday.
Unfortunately, he succumbed to complications in the early hours of Thursday, according to multiple reports.
A close family source confirmed to The Whistler that Ayilara will be laid to rest according to Islamic rites on Thursday (today).
The source expressed the family’s grief, saying, “We are very sad to inform you that our friend, brother, and family member, the Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom State, Waheed Ayilara, is dead.”
