Former U.S. President Donald Trump, on Friday, accused Google of displaying only “bad stories” about him while showing positive articles about his political rival, Vice President Kamala Harris.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump pledged to prosecute the tech giant if he returns to the White House.

Without providing evidence, Trump wrote, “This is an ILLEGAL ACTIVITY, and hopefully the Justice Department will criminally prosecute them for this blatant Interference of Elections. If not, and subject to the Laws of our Country, I will request their prosecution, at the maximum levels, when I win the election.”

Trump’s remarks followed a report from a conservative group, which claimed to have observed bias in search results related to his 2024 presidential campaign.

In response, Google denied manipulating search results, asserting that both Trump’s and Harris’ campaign websites consistently appeared at the top of searches.

“This report looked at a single rare search term on a single day a few weeks ago, and even for that search, both candidates’ websites ranked in the top results on Google,” the company explained.

Google has long maintained that it does not favor any political candidate, and while it keeps the algorithms behind its search engine confidential, it has clarified that factors like timeliness and topic popularity influence search rankings.

Trump’s comments come amid a series of legal challenges he faces, including accusations of sexual abuse, paying hush money to a porn star, interfering in the 2020 election, and attempting to block the peaceful transfer of power after President Joe Biden’s victory.
