The House of Representatives rejected an amendment to a motion seeking to suspend the recent increase in the pump price of fuel on Wednesday.
Members voted against the amendment after the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu, who presided over plenary, questioned if it was in the place of the House to take such a position since pump prices are controlled by market forces.
A member, Honorable Ugochinyere Ikenga, had moved a motion calling for an investigation into the increases in the price of fuel since the removal of the fuel subsidy.
The House, however, resolved to investigate and ascertain the actual cause of the price increases.
