Popular American preacher, Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a medical emergency during his sermon at The Potter’s House of Dallas, Texas, on Sunday.

A video circulating on social media captured the moment Jakes, 67, lowered his microphone and appeared to spasm while seated on stage.

Attendees quickly rushed to his aid as the service was abruptly stopped halfway.

In a statement, The Potter’s House megachurch, which Jakes founded in 1996, confirmed the incident.

“Bishop Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour-long message,” the statement read.

The church assured the public that Jakes is stable and receiving professional medical care.

“The entire Potter’s House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community,” it added.

Before the medical episode, Jakes delivered a heartfelt message, expressing his enduring passion for preaching.

“I still love to preach. I ain’t tired of preaching,” he told the congregation.

He went on to share an anecdote about finding encouragement in unexpected places, likening it to the experience of preaching.

“Have you ever gone to a hospital to visit somebody, and you thought it was going to encourage them, and they encourage you? That’s what preaching is like. You think you’re giving out something, you’re getting back more than you gave.”

Jakes concluded his sermon by quoting Psalm 19:14: “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, my redeemer, let them go in peace.”

Moments later, he stopped speaking and exhibited signs of distress.

As Jakes became visibly unwell, members of the congregation rushed to assist him, while another speaker urged the audience to pray.

Later that day, Jakes’ official X account provided an update, stating, “During today’s service, Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour-long message.”

The post reassured followers of his stable condition, thanking them for their prayers and support.
