The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has assured Nigerians of improved electricity supply throughout the holy month of Ramadan, which commenced on Saturday, March 2.
In his goodwill message to Muslims nationwide, Adelabu acknowledged the persistent power challenges in the country but reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring a stable supply, particularly during the fasting period.
I understand that Ramadan requires increased energy consumption, especially during Suhoor (pre-dawn meal), Iftar (post-sunset meal), and Taraweeh (night prayers). The Federal Ministry of Power is working tirelessly to guarantee a steady and reliable power supply throughout this sacred period and beyond,” he stated.
The minister also highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance the national power infrastructure, prevent grid collapses, and expand electricity access across the country.
We are focused on improving the power sector by addressing grid instability and ensuring that Nigerians, regardless of location, can observe Ramadan with comfort and dignity,” he said.
Adelabu urged the public to practice responsible electricity consumption by using energy-efficient appliances, switching off unnecessary lights, and unplugging devices when not in use. He emphasized that such measures would reduce pressure on the grid while promoting environmental sustainability in line with Islamic teachings on resource conservation.
Beyond electricity matters, the minister encouraged Muslims to embrace the deeper spiritual significance of Ramadan. He called for increased acts of charity, unity among Nigerians, and prayers for the peace, stability, and prosperity of the nation.
Ramadan is not only about fasting but also about spiritual renewal, self-discipline, and personal growth. Let us seize this opportunity to strengthen our relationship with Allah, extend kindness to others, and pray for the development of our beloved country,” he added.
He concluded by urging Muslims to pray for the nation’s leaders and institutions, asking for divine guidance in overcoming Nigeria’s challenges and building a better future for all.
