Former U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama has revealed she’s relieved not to have had a male child, saying she’s “so glad” she only gave birth to daughters.
Michelle made the comment during a candid chat on The Michelle Obama Podcast, which she co-hosts with her brother, Craig Robinson.
Their guest on the episode was renowned radio host Angie Martinez.
Reflecting on parenting challenges in today’s world– particularly for boys–Michelle shared, “I’m so glad I didn’t have a boy.”
When Martinez asked why she and her husband, former President Barack Obama, never tried for a son to balance out their family of four, Michelle quipped, “Because he would’ve been a Barack Obama!”
Martinez responded that a “baby Barack” would’ve been “amazing,” to which the former First Lady jokingly replied that she “would’ve felt for him,” imagining the pressures of raising a miniature version of the ex-president.
The conversation offered a glimpse into Michelle’s thoughts on parenting, gender expectations, and the unique dynamics of being part of America’s most iconic political family.
