Former Nigeria international, Peter Ijeh has urged the Super Eagles to shift focus to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations following their failure to secure a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Super Eagles lost 4-3 on penalties to Democratic Republic of Congo in the final of the African playoffs one week ago.
Eric Chelle’s side will look to redeem themselves at the AFCON 2025 finals.
Ijeh said the players should be motivated to win the trophy in Morocco.
Missing next year’s World Cup should be a motivating factor for Super Eagles players to go and win the AFCON,” Ijeh said on Brila FM.
The AFCON is another opportunity for the players to make amends because what has gone has gone there is nothing they can do about it.”
The Super Eagles are drawn in Group C with Tunisia, Uganda and Tanzania.
They will open their campaign against the Taifa Stars of Tanzania in Fez on Tuesday, December 23.
