Former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, is expected to take over as Nigeria’s Defence Minister following the resignation of Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar on Monday night, according to top government sources.

Musa met President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday evening, his first public engagement with the President since his retirement on October 24, 2025.

Sources revealed that during the meeting, President Tinubu notified Musa that he would be appointed to succeed Badaru as Defence Minister.
