Social media is on fire after a controversial female pastor urged married women to surrender their entire monthly salaries to their husbands, generating widespread outrage and debate.
In a sermon that has since gone viral, the cleric declared that a virtuous wife should not control her own earnings, insisting that a woman’s full salary belongs to her husband, who may then decide whether to give her any portion.
“Your full salary should go directly to your husband. It is up to him to give you some of it if he chooses,” the pastor said.
She backed the claim with her personal example, revealing that her salary account is effectively operated by her husband.
According to her, she earns ₦200,000 monthly but does not touch the money unless her husband approves, describing the practice as an expression of submission and marital virtue.
The statement has generated serious backlash online, with many Nigerians slamming the advice as archaic and misogynistic, while a minority defended it as a private family choice rooted in personal beliefs.
