The Senate, on Tuesday, was forced into an emergency executive session following a heated disagreement between the Senate President, Godswill Akpabion, and Ali Ndume, the Chief Whip of the Senate, who staged a walkout of plenary.

The Daily Trust reports that Ndume complained about a violation of rules in running the affairs of the Red Chamber.

The Borno lawmaker had raised a point of order to draw the attention of Senate President Godswill Akpabio to his handling of affairs in the chambers, which were against the rules.

He said, “Mr. President, there are some things we do in this chamber that are against the rules. Sir, nobody is too big to learn.”

Ndume could not be allowed to finish his speech as Akpabio ruled him out of order.

Angered by Akpabio’s dictative style, Ndume staged a walkout of the chamber and went straight to his office.

Shortly after he got to his office, the Senate went into executive session, which was still ongoing as of the time of filing this report.

It would interest you to know that Senator Ndume was Akpabio’s campaign director and oversaw his emergence as Senate President.

But, recently, he has been increasingly falling out with the former Akwa Ibom governor over his leadership style in the Senate.
