Golf legend Tiger Woods has been released on bail after he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence following a car crash in Florida.
According to Sky Sports on Saturday, Woods was detained after his vehicle overturned while attempting to overtake a trailer on Friday afternoon.
The 15-time major winner was said to have walked away unhurt, while the driver of the other vehicle involved in the incident also sustained no injuries.
Sky Sports reports that police authorities disclosed that Woods appeared “lethargic” at the scene, with investigators suspecting impairment linked to medication. Although a breathalyser test returned negative, he declined to provide a urine sample.
Woods was held for about eight hours at a county jail before he was released on bond in the early hours of Saturday.
Martin County Sheriff, John Budensiek, said the golfer showed “signs of impairment” following the crash, leading to his arrest after roadside tests were conducted.
He added that Woods was charged with driving under the influence, property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test, noting that the offences are not felonies.
