Doherty filed for divorce from Iswarienko in 2023 after 11 years of marriage, but the actress signed the separation agreement one day before her death, and her ex-partner signed it on the day she passed away.
Kurt Iswarienko, Shannen Doherty’s ex-husband, sought to contest the divorce agreement he signed with the actress before her death. However, he ultimately reached a settlement with the heirs of the “Beverly Hills, 90210” star.
The parties finally reached this agreement and thus the Doherty divorce case was resolved, almost two years after the death of the actress, who died on July 13, 2024 after a tough battle of almost a decade against cancer.
But, despite the existence of that legal agreement, the actress’s heirs claimed that Iswarienko had not complied with its terms.
According to People, the photographer claimed that he had not done so since the paperwork had been filed in the incorrect court and the Los Angeles court lacked the authority to require adherence to the agreed-upon financial responsibilities.
Iswarienko further contended that the agreement should never have been filed and that the divorce case ought to have been settled at the time of the actress’s death.
After those legal arguments, the parties have finally reached an agreement, as, according to documents that People had access to, the 51-year-old photographer has agreed to pay “half of the net value” of the property that he and the actress shared in Dripping Springs, Texas.
The $1.5 million property that the actress’s ex-partner reportedly currently stays in was first disallowed to be sold.
In addition to returning Doherty’s sofa and coffee table, the present deal requires Iswarienko to “submit an inventory of his photographic works” that feature the late actress.
Additionally, he consented to provide the estate $25,000 in exchange for Doherty’s portion of a Mooney M-20 aircraft.
According to reports, Iswarienko’s guitars, musical instruments, and a Garard stereo were returned by Doherty’s heirs.
This agreement appears to be the end of the dispute between the heirs and Iswarienko, whom Doherty asked for a divorce after discovering infidelity on his part at a delicate time for her, as she was about to undergo surgery to remove a brain tumor, she said on her podcast “Let’s Be Clear”.
“I felt unloved by someone I was with for 14 years, by someone I loved with all my heart,” she confessed at the time.
At the time, Leslie Sloane, the actress’s publicist, told Page Six that “divorce was the last thing Shannen wanted. Unfortunately, she felt she had no other choice.”
And although at the end of her life she no longer had the support of her partner, the actress did have that of her family and friends, who were with her until her last breath.
