Iran says the intelligence chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has been killed in a US-Israeli strike

The IRGC said Major General Majid Khademi was killed early on Monday morning

Earlier, US President Donald Trump appeared to set a deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz for 20:00 ET on Tuesday (01:00 BST Wednesday)

In an expletive-laden threat on Iranian infrastructure, Trump said “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!!”

In response, Iran warned of “much more devastating” retaliation – while ordinary Iranians tell us how they feel about the latest American threats

Trump’s warning to Iran could amount to a threat to commit potential war crimes, US State Department correspondent Tom Bateman writes

The US president is due to give an update later on the operation to rescue an American airman who was in a fighter jet that was shot down over Iran

Meanwhile, attacks continue across the region – including in Iran, Israel, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia
