Lionel Messi and his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, are reportedly making long-term plans to return to Barcelona, with preparations already underway for a permanent move in 2028.
According to emerging reports, the family has initiated a land reparceling process involving their 8,000 square metre estate in Castelldefels, a coastal area just outside Barcelona where Messi previously lived during his time at the club. The project aims to divide the property into three independent plots.
The move is designed to secure future homes for each of their three sons Thiago, Mateo, and Ciro highlighting the family’s intention to maintain deep roots in the city that shaped much of Messi’s football legacy.
Messi, widely regarded as one of the greatest players in football history, spent over two decades at FC Barcelona before his departure in 2021. Despite his subsequent stints abroad, Barcelona has remained a significant part of his personal and professional identity.
The planned development signals not only a return to familiar surroundings but also a long-term investment in the family’s future in Catalonia.
