The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ikom local government area of Cross River State, Mr. Mathew Egomo, and his son have been kidnapped by gunmen.
The abduction took place along the Ikom-Ogoja Road on Sunday, close to the Afi River at Nde Three Corners Community, just a few kilometers away from the Ikom council secretariat.
Speaking with Leadership about the incident, Mr. Patrick Bassey, the governor’s special adviser on security matters, urged state residents to establish vigilance groups to support the police in combating criminal activities.
While the police deputy public relations officer, Igiri Ewa, indicated that the command had not yet confirmed the kidnapping, he assured that efforts would be made to rescue the victims as soon as the police intensified their search operations.
