Former Abia State Governor and serving senator Orji Uzor Kalu has recorded a landslide victory in the All Progressives Congress senatorial primary for Abia North Senatorial District, defeating challenger Philip Nto with wide margins across the five local government areas in the district.
Results from the primary election monitored by MUK TV, showed overwhelming dominance for Senator Kalu in Ohafia, Arochukwu, Bende, Isikwuato, and Umunneochi LGAs, with the former governor securing commanding victories in nearly all the wards.
In Ohafia LGA, wards such as Etiti, Agbo, Ameke, Agboji, Ohafor, and Okamu delivered block votes for Kalu, while Philip Nto disappointedly failed to secure votes in several polling areas.
A similar outcome played out in Arochukwu LGA, where Senator Kalu posted decisive victories in wards including Ututu, Ikwun Ihechiowa, Ohafor Abam, Arochukwu Ward 1, and Arochukwu Ward 2, alongside other polling units across the council.
The APC primary also witnessed strong performances by the senator in Bende, Isikwuato, and Umunneochi LGAs, further solidifying his political dominance and grassroots influence across Abia North.
Supporters and party faithful who reacted after the exercise described the outcome as a clear reflection of Senator Kalu’s popularity, political structure, and influence within the APC in the senatorial district.
Party stakeholders who monitored the exercise also hailed the outcome as a major morale booster for the APC ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
